County Road Bakery was founded by Alex Matsu, a professional baker and food educator. In 2021 the business expanded, and today it's managed by Karen Greenberg and Phil Matsu — who live in Sullivan County and are both gluten-free themselves.
We spent years at the farmer markets of Sullivan County, and in the fall of 2024 those markets spring-boarded us into a permanent home inside The Callicoon Marketplace. Custom flour blends. Non-GMO grains. Local eggs. A kitchen with no gluten, no nuts, and no shortcuts.
Our baking facility is completely celiac-safe. Every item in the kitchen is gluten-free — no exceptions.
We've never used nuts in our baked goods. We source nut-free materials only and take care with cross-contamination.
Plenty of our items use flax eggs, and others are dairy-free with our own chicken eggs.

Yes! Our baking facility is completely celiac-safe and nut-free, and we use non-GMO grains in our flour blends. In the Callicoon shop we wrap and separate items to dissuade cross-contamination.
We never use nuts in any of our baked goods. We take the utmost care with ingredient sourcing and purchase nut-free materials only. Some ingredients may come from facilities where seeds and nuts are present, so please take all necessary precautions.
Our goods are baked fresh with natural preservatives only. Gluten-free baked goods do very well frozen — we recommend an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freezer-wrapped for up to two months.
Yes! Two weeks notice for most occasions. Birthday cupcakes are our specialty. Email us or call 845-887-5137.
We do, and we love preparing food for special events. Please reach out at least three weeks before your party and we'll build a personalized menu with you.
Yes, really. We mix our flour blends weekly from trusted-source ingredients and every item in our kitchen is gluten-free. Some items are vegan, others are dairy-free. No nuts, no soy, ever — and seeds and oats are limited.
